I am a self-taught pyrographer and handcrafted jewelry designer living in Beaverton, Oregon, USA. My areas of expertise are:
PYROGRAPHY - Burning portraits into leather or wood. I can do all shading with my burning tool or add color highlights (best done on wood) for complete photo reproduction. I am available for commission work. Feel free to contact me directly at my website. (www.portlandpyrography.com)
JEWELRY DESIGN - I specialize in one-of-a-kind, unique wearable pieces of art. My favorite materials are annealed steel wire to frame gorgeous, natural stones wrapped in other wires and featured in beautiful pendants or hand wire-wrapped into statement rings. I love warm, rustic, old-world metals such as copper and brass (frequently antiqued to give it an aged look) to compliment the annealed steel and stone. I create custom pieces and sets for those looking for their own, unusual look and feel.
LEATHER WORK - I sometimes work in leather...either creating artwork on it (pyrography on leather is SO much smoother than working on wood! The burning tool goes through it like it's melting through butter. Delicious!) and sometimes creating hand-tooled pieces such as book covers or wearable pieces such as bracers. I'm thinking about pursuing more book making endeavors in the future because it feels like I could encompass all of my crafts into that one medium; pyrography, jewel crafting, and leather tooling. We'll see how that goes!
